QUANTITATIVE ESTIMATION METHOD OF DIGITAL IMAGE CONTRAST

Abstract

A novel approach to the quantitative evaluation of digital image contrast is proposed on the basis of “center of
mass” model. Comparative study results of new algorithm robustness to spatial noise are represented. It is shown that reliability of image contrast evaluation may be increased considerably in comparison with well-known techniques. Recommendations of new method application in optoelectronic systems of thermal cameras and digital microscopes are formulated.
