Abstract

The article deals with laboratory research model for damped oscillations of a spring pendulum on the inclined plane in the presence of sliding friction in system. This model is an example of non-exponential nature of the harmonic oscillations attenuation which explanation is possible within a general physics course. It is shown that oscillations of such pendulum take place with the constant frequency, equal to own fluctuations of a spring pendulum, meanwhile oscillation amplitude decreases by identical size every half-period. On the basis of the offered research technique it is possible to define the sliding friction force. The offered didactic model is realized in the form of two laboratory works: computer and natural. The works promote expansion of students’ representations about research methods of damping oscillations in systems with various nature of the environment resistance.
