Abstract

Representations of optical coherent tomography (OCT) images are investigated. Objective quality criterion of
representations is introduced on the base of recently developed principle of representational minimum
description length (RDML). Segmentation algorithm is proposed that detects layered structure of OCT images
and can be used in morphological analysis of biological tissues, especially, in disease diagnostics. It is shown,
that value of RMDL criterion is in accordance with expert estimation of adequacy of segmentation results. Thus,
this criterion can be utilized for further investigation and improvement of OCT image analysis algorithms.
