Abstract

Short information about the foreign infrared imagers (II) development programs and their element base (foremost, about the optical systems and focal plane arrays – FPA) is stated. Main attention is devoted to the third generation of II working in two or more spectral bands with FPA. Some examples of military, civil and «dual assignment» of II are cited. Perspectives of II development during the nearest years are considered.
