Abstract

The article deals with the method of geometric simplification of 3D polygonal object models for reducing the

amount of data that leads to an increase in the rates of both transmission and visualization. The proposed

simplification method of the three-dimensional polygonal objects uses edge collapse operations. Additional

checks are aimed for eliminating the effect of a degenerate polygonal mesh. To assess the quality of polygonal

network simplification the Hausdorff dimension is proposed to use.
